Tailgates and Farms - Nothing's More Wisconsin!

Nixon turned one and we threw him a huge party.  We're talking an all out, 1/2 barrel of Summer Shandy beer, ginormous cake, tons of friends and limitless food and grilled meats party.  This kid was on cloud nine all day and I barely saw him until we packed up the car to leave because he was so busy playing with all his friends and family.

We rented a pavilion at Miller Park right next to a playground and to say it was a success would be an understatement.  It was a vintage Brewer's Tailgate Theme to celebrate the first year of Kyle and I keeping him alive.  The only problem is I assumed no one would want to spend more than 3 hours at a 1 year old's birthday and I only rented it for 3 hours and had to kick everyone out...lesson learned - when I throw parties, people come...and people want to stay.

Then two weeks later Uncle Wayne came to visit from Phoenix.  We spent a ton of time outside and we all went to an event called Breakfast on the Farm.  It was...get ready...breakfast on a farm!  It was super fun, they had omelets, pizza, cheese, ice cream and milk, petting zoos and tons of crafts for kids.  We also had a hay ride in and out of the event.  This will be so much more fun next year when he can be involved in it all.  We also visited Great Grampa, Aunt Vickie and Uncle Scott.  Vickie got Nixon a super cute new Brewer's hat that he had to show off all day.

Hey Great Grampa!!!
Part of that weekend was the 4th Annual Scooter's Get Together (GTG).  Wayne and I drove down to hang with our pals and check out the rides.  Scooter's GTG is a car show that Kyle and his buddies put on every year.  Everyone camps there overnight, we have a huge bonfire, DJ's, Food, and booze.  Oh yeah, there are cars there too.  It started 4 years ago when Scooter was supposed to get married but called it off...he had all the beer so we just had a big party instead...thus, Scooter's Annual GTG.  This year the weather was killer and about 275 cars showed up.  Here's a link to a video of the event too - the end is the best when they light the fire: http://vimeo.com/43938633
