Destined to be a Safety...or Jockey...
Today we had Nixon's 9 month check-up and the news was a bit of a bummer. I could be over reacting but I just feel bad for our Little. Literally...he's our Little. I doubt he'll be an NBA center! It would be funny if he turned out to be like 6'5" later in life, but for now he's just an itty bitty thing.
Since the day he was born Nixon has been the 20th percentile for weight and the 50th percentile for height. At today's appointment we learned he's 18lbs and 27". This now places him at the 18th percentile for weight and 29th percentile for height. His head diameter is only at the 7th percentile! Our little guy is tiny and has a super tiny head!!!
His doctor said sometimes with a dome that small she'd have concerns but in every area in development Nixon is ahead so she's not worried. She thinks he'll be walking in the next few weeks and she thinks he has impeccable social and motor skills. We do know he's very smart and strong so I shouldn't worry but a mama can't help herself sometimes.
He also had to have a finger prick to draw some blood to test for iron and his iron readings are low so we have to switch his vitamins to ones with extra iron to avoid his becoming anemic. I ran to Target today to pick up the new vitamins and in typical Cj fashion that ended up in $100 of crap.
Goal: Vitamins
Actual: Socks (the dogs have eaten most of mine), yoga pants (my favorite around-the-house pants), heater filters (do you know how expensive these stupid things are???), baby oatmeal and puffs (Target has the hippy organic kind I love best at the lowest price), yogurt (5 for $5 Chobani, are you kidding me?), make-up remover (love the wipes), bottles (they were our brand and on clearance!) and I nearly forgot the damn vitamins.
Stupid Target.
As a whole, he's incredibly healthy, albeit small. I'll just embrace his littleness and drink it all in because before I know it he'll be taller than me. Plus, he's saving us money, we haven't had to buy any clothes since he's still wearing his 6 month clothes!
